I think that I'm speaking for most programmers when I say that
it's painful sorting through someone else's code, but implementation
of existing software is the way development is going at the moment
and it's certainly a lot cheaper for the client.
I built this wizard from scratch. It's a rather complex online application form
that users were required to complete as part of a competition. The prize was a
free trip to Australia to attend the Eco Innovate conference. I didn't want to
give them a basic form as there were a lot of questions and it would be very frustrating
if their computer crashed or lost connection to the Internet when they had spent
hours completing it. My solution was to break the application into small
steps that were saved in the database as they progressed. At any time they could
log out to get more information and then come back the next day and continue.
